William the Wonder Horse, the white Arabian horse that made national headlines when he broke away from his handler during a May 15, 2012 photo shoot and swam two miles into the Santa Barbara Channel, will be showing at the upcoming Region II Arabian Horse Show to be held June 20-24 at the Earl Warren Show grounds. William is fully recovered from his long distance swim and will be exhibited on Saturday evening June 23 at 6:45 PM.
On Saturday, between afternoon and evening sessions, people are free to wander amongst the stalls and visit the trainers, exhibitors and horses from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. During this time we will be enjoying our annual barn party and serving free Ice Cream (the ice cream is from McConnels and any tips benefit the youth). Attendance to the show is free to all. Classes resume at 7:00 PM and will start with yearling halter.”
The Region 2 Horse Show is a qualification show for the US National Horse Show. Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo Arabian horses from all over the southwest will be shown both in hand and under saddle and are some of the most spectacular examples of the Arabian breed. The under saddle disciplines include English, Hunter, Western and Working Western (Trail and Reining), while in hand is a showing of the horse to specifications including head and neck, legs, etc.
