The 2014 NCWW Celebration Show will have a change in dates, moving to July 16-20, 2014, and a change in venues, moving to the popular Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, Minnesota. These are great leaps forward for a great, young show and an exuberant show manager, Sandy Woerle.
The Western Canadian Breeders Cup, an annual competition that features Canadian-bred and/or owned Arabian horses, will be held this year Friday through Sunday, July 12 through 14, at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The show is a favorite among Canadian Arabian breeders for the obvious reason that Canada is so frequently in direct competition with America that it’s nice for them to have the opportunity to spotlight and honor their own breeders once a year. The Western Canada group includes breeders from Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. This year’s show judges include Scott Benjamin, (who is also judging reining and trail), Joe Polo, Sue Martin and Isabel Reinertson (Sport Horses).
So Big Is Better is nine this year, but nobody has told the big, grey son of leading Arabian racing sire, Burning Sand that it’s time to hang up his racing plates. Now in his seventh season, “So Big” had his first racing success as a four-year-old at Los Alamitos in California.
