55TH CANADIAN NATIONALS HAS 2ND YEAR IN BRANDON

The Canadian Arabian National Championships celebrated its 55th Anniversary at the Keystone Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. It was the show’s second year at the Canadian facility and the numbers were up to just under 700 Arabian and Half-Arabian horses for the six-day show. Exhibitors and their families enjoyed the Brandon coffee shops, hotels and good restaurants. Locally the show received a warm, Manitoba welcome, and sessions from August 13th through the 18th were well attended by horsemen and local Canadians.

Andy Sellman led LD Pistal to roses in the Canadian National Champion Halter Stallions and Zahara El Marwan to roses in the National Champion Mares. He garnered that special garland with Emmanda in the Two-Year-Old Fillies, Sultan ORA in the Yearling Colts and Sir Marwan CRF in the Futurity Colts. David Boggs won the Two-Year-Old Colts with Shariff RCA and the Futurity Fillies with Luxemere Jizette, while Alcides Rodrigues led the lovely Star of Justice ORA to roses in the Yearling Fillies.

Gordon Potts showed Americanbeautie to the win in the HA Country English and CSP American Idol in the PB Country. Joe Reser won the HA Western Pleasure with Jo Money and the Western Pleasure Open with Klint Black. Matt Siemon teamed Baske Is A Genius to roses in the HA Pleasure Driving and REA My Allience to glory in the HA Park. Larry Hoffman won the Show Hack with MM Sabe and the English Pleasure with Afires Royalty, while Kevin Price won the HA English with All Charisma and the HA Country Pleasure Driving with Winsome Mobility.

Enthusiasm and a sense of fun helped make this year’s Canadian National Championships a great show. As always, the Royal Red ranked among the best Arabian and Half-Arabian horse shows of 2012.
