AHG Member Al Baierle is the winner of the November prize, a year’s subscription from Arabian Horse Global live streaming advertiser the Arabian Horse Times Magazine. Al lives in Montreal, Canada and got his first horse when he was just fifteen.
“My family is from Europe … Austria actually, and as a teenager I worked on horse farms all over the countryside in Austria and Germany,” Al says. “Moving to Canada was a big change and though I loved horses through the years, like many other people I got married and raised a family before I got back into the horses about eight years ago.”
Though Al’s first horse was a Quarter Horse and he still owns some, he’s always been an Arabian horse fan, admiring their beauty, intelligence and quality. Years ago he was a subscriber to the Arabian Horse Times and remembers how much he enjoyed reading the magazine.
“I was a ‘Times’ reader in the 1990’s,” Al says. “I happened to be on the Arabian Horse Global website and saw the contest. I thought, ‘What the heck, I never win anything anyway’. Imagine my surprise! It could not have come at a better time. I’m looking for a stallion to cross with one of my AQHA mares. She has good, old-fashioned Quarter Horse breeding, A Perfect Kid out of Impressive and Mr. 89er bloodlines. She’s a big, heavily muscled mare. Now that I am actively looking for an Arabian sire that will cross well with her, the Arabian Horse Times subscription will come in very handy. My dream is to produce a winning Half-Arabian reining horse or simply a very good quality working western horse.”
