Arabian horses have always been the ultimate source of beauty, mystery and romance. They are, after all, the happily-ever-after horse; the quintessential fairy tale steed, which is why they naturally attract dreamers.
*Shael Dream Desert is a near perfect embodiment of a dreamer’s Arabian horse. He lacks only wings, or a Unicorn’s horn to complete the illusion. Over the past five years, from Italy to Brazil to Belgium, he has captured the imagination of Arabian owners and breeders all over the world, the old-fashioned way – with his stunningly beautiful sons and daughters.
Primarily Egyptian-bred, “Shael” is sired by Ansata Shaamis (Ansata Halim Shah x AK Faressa by Prince Fa Moniet) out of a daughter of the great international champion, *Hadidi. “Shael’s” female line is Russian, though with multiple lines to Russia’s famous Egyptian stallion Aswan. Best known as a sire, *Shael Dream Desert offspring have great type and Arabian characteristics and, for such a young sire with relatively few get, they have amassed an amazing show record globally. In Brazil, where he was exported at the age of two, his get were already winning extensively when he was just four. His daughter, Bruma Bahama was Junior Champion in Brazil in 2007 and then came to the 2008 Scottsdale Show where she won the prestigous Two-Year-Old Filly Class.
Though *Shael Dream Desert stands in the midst of Arabian royalty at Jadem Arabians in Belgium with Christine and Guy Jamar, he is owned by Richard and Deanna Freeland of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Freeland is known internationally for quality breeding and has always bred horses of Arabian type and character. Richard first saw *Shael Dream Desert in 2008 and purchased him soon thereafter, noting that “… I was looking for something completely unique in an Arabian stallion; something that we have not seen lately in the show ring or the breeding barn. *Shael is a stallion that makes you take notice!” And that seems to go double or triple for his offspring. This past year *Shael’s sons and daughters set the world’s show rings on fire. Felicia RLC was the 2010 Scottsdale Reserve Junior Champion Filly and was the hit of the Las Vegas Breeder’s World Cup where she was Junior Champion; Van Katalina was National Supreme Champion Mare in Argentina; FT Shaella was Champion Junior Mare at the All Nations Cup, the Salon Du Cheval, the Dubai International, the Ajman Show and the Mediterranean Championship, and Shannan El Madan was Junior Champion Colt at both the Middle East and Saudi National Championships.
The four yearlings that are owned by Freeland Farms are available for sale to discerning exhibitors and breeders during the show.
Freeland has 12 foals by *Shael Dream Desert coming in 2011 via shipped semen from Belgium and embryo transfer, out of daughters of *Padron, Padrons Psyche, Bey Shah, *Marwan Al Shaqab, Falcon BHF, *Gazal Al Shaqab and other notable sires. Over the next nine months *Shael’s semen is being shipped from Jadem to America, the Middle East and all over the world. The foals themselves are splendid, friendly and trotty, with high flung tails and big, black eyes. Their necks are near vertical with swan-like shape; their character and attitude fills the space around them. In short, they exude the magic and mystery that sets the best Arabians apart. They are the stuff of dreams.
